For more than two decades I have worked professionally as a biodiversity ecologist. For most of my career I was focused on the greater metropolitan landscape of New York City. I am currently working on the East End of Long Island focused on the Central Pine Barrens.
I did not fall into my profession. I was called to it following the events of 9/11. When I was challenged to create something that could “help heal us all”. I knew then, as I do now, that there is only one place to seek healing for all, that place is nature.
Decades later, I am still searching for that something. That is why I created the New Leaf Art Lab.
New Leaf is exactly what it sounds like, a new opportunity. The opportunity to create a new paradigm on how we connect to nature. Yes, the Art Lab is about art. More importantly, it is about how art can serve nature. How art can bring us together.
With your help, New Leaf Art Lab can be about using our collective power and leveraging it towards something that can heal us all.
It is my hope that my art will not only captivate you but motivate you. To join in, become part of something bigger, something that heals whatever which it touches.
It’s about your nature. My nature. Their nature. Our nature.
“The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion that stands at the cradle of true art and true science.”
― Albert Einstein
